My name is Fabian Granhaugen. I am a Norwegian Architecture student living and studying at the Oslo school of architecture. I was interested in art and drawing from early on and gradually got more passionate over the years. In my work I focus on strong concepts that has something characteristic, an architecture that can talk for itself. This means for me an architecture which has a clear identity in form of space, materials and construction. I always ask my self, does this architecture have an atmosphere?
I came into the field of architecture in the same way as many others, by having a close relationship to the built environment and being aware of the surroundings and how these places has an impact on how we experience our lives. I wanted to be a part of this field and understand how places can be made in a way that touch peoples senses. A good architecture can guide people to stay here in this moment, I think.
I want to work in the field of housing, perhaps in a small office where I can get in touch with clients and work with interesting materials and details. I also want to build a close relationship with good craftsmen that are passionate about what they do and learn from them. I want to work with architecture that gives something to the people that live there.
I think Oslo is a good place for architects whatever direction you want to go, whether it´s working in small or big office. I think there is also not that difficult to get a job, even though I have not worked for any office yet. If you just love and are passionate about what you are doing, people will share the same for your work.
I like to move around and work in different places. Sometimes I like to be alone in a quiet space and sometimes together with others which is more loudly. I always have a pile of paper beside my computer and then the work happens from there.
Guiding you to be aware of your surroundings, which is being present.

I am really interested in how I can communicate architecture visually, mainly in terms of pictures or images that show some qualities in the spaces I make. I like to give the viewer the opportunity to look for it, feel it and be there. Rendering is a good tool for those who don’t understand drawings, but there is always the drawings I make in which my projects and the architecture comes to life.
