Scaffold is an ongoing interview project that maps the shifting contours of contemporary architecture. Beginning independently in 2018, it became the Architecture Foundation’s flagship podcast in 2021 and is now one of the most widely recognised interview series of its kind.

Matthew Blunderfield is a photographer and host of the podcast Scaffold. He teaches architecture at the Royal College of Art and is a producer at The Architecture Foundation. Born and raised in Vancouver, Matthew studied English Literature at the University of British Columbia and Architecture at the University of Toronto, before completing his RIBA Part III qualification from the Bartlett, UCL. He previously practiced architecture at Waugh Thistleton Architects, David Kohn Architects and Henley Halebrown. He lives in London.

Fredi Fischli and Niels Olsen are curators and co-directors of exhibitions at the Institute for the History and Theory of Architecture (gta), ETH Zurich. Together they work on projects at the intersection of architecture, art, research and teaching, resulting in such exhibitions as Unschöne Museen (curated with Geraldine Tedder), Cloud’ 68. Collection of Radical Architecture, Home. A User’s Manual or Book for Architects. Olsen and Fischli have curated numerous exhibitions in collaboration with international institutions, such as Warsaw Under Construction, inaugurating the new Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw’s bulding; Beverly Buchanan. I Broke the House at Fisk University Galleries in Nashville and ETH, Zurich, Retail Apocalypse at CCA Montreal and ETH Zurich, Sturm & Drang with Armature Globale at Fondazione Prada in Milan, Inside Outside. Petra Blaisse at La Triennale di Milano and MAXXI Rome. In 2023, they taught as the John Portman Design Critics in Architecture at Harvard University GSD.
